Empowering Media Professionals to Promote Green Technologies

As part of its communication and knowledge-sharing initiatives focused on green technologies, Huawei Algeria organized a technical day for journalists on Thursday, May 8, 2025, under the theme: “Renewable Energies and Smart Solutions Proposed by Huawei.”

Held at Huawei Algeria’s headquarters in Algiers, the event brought together several national and institutional experts, including representatives from the Commission for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency (CEREFE), the Renewable Energy Development Center (CDER), and the Director General of Green Energy Cluster Algeria.

Speakers outlined the main aspects of Algeria’s national strategies for energy transition, ongoing research projects, and opportunities for collaboration with tech stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of clean energy.

During the session, Huawei showcased its innovative technological solutions in the field of renewable energy, designed to meet the needs of developing countries facing challenges similar to those in Algeria. These included smart photovoltaic systems adapted for buildings, public infrastructure, and industrial facilities, enabling clean and optimized energy production. Huawei also presented solutions for solar power plants with energy storage using high-performance lithium batteries, ensuring stable power supply even during solar intermittency—solutions primarily intended for industrial sectors and power producers.

By integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), Huawei’s platforms offer intelligent energy management, real-time supervision and monitoring, predictive maintenance, and optimization of energy performance. These solutions have already been successfully deployed in countries such as Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Spain, Chile, and Brazil, proving their robustness, efficiency, and ability to support sustainable energy transitions.

Huawei Supports Algeria’s Energy Transition

In Algeria, these systems have been implemented in oil and gas facilities in the south and in cement production units. Several other projects are currently being completed or developed.

Huawei also emphasized that its smart energy solutions are a strategic lever for sustainable agriculture development in Algeria. With reliable and continuous solar power—even in remote areas—these solutions enable the operation of water pumping systems for irrigation, support smart greenhouse facilities, enable autonomous cold storage for crops, and reduce reliance on diesel generators. The integration of AI and IoT also allows for intelligent management of energy consumption and humidity, contributing to improved agricultural productivity and significantly reduced operating costs.

Huawei reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Algeria in its energy transition strategy by offering innovative, reliable, and secure technologies adapted to the country’s climate, while also enhancing the training of local stakeholders, including specialized journalists.

This session enabled participants to better understand the challenges of sustainable energy and explore real-world examples of green technology deployment around the world.
