Jumia celebrates 13 years of successful e-commerce operations in Algeria

Today, Jumia, the leading e-commerce company in Algeria, celebrated its 13th anniversary in the Algerian market. To mark the occasion, the company launched an exceptional promotional campaign, running from May 12 to June 1, 2025, featuring offers and discounts of up to 60% on a wide range of products.
The campaign was officially launched during a seminar held in Algiers under the title “The Market: A Key Pillar for the Development of E-Commerce.” The seminar brought together a select group of industry players, highlighting Jumia’s impact on the development of e-commerce in Algeria and the future prospects of the digital ecosystem.

A Leader in the Local Market
During the meeting, Lisse Paul Mollard, CEO of Jumia Algeria, emphasized the company’s pivotal role as a catalyst for accelerating the growth of e-commerce through its digital marketplace model, which connects thousands of Algerian businesses with hundreds of thousands of customers across the country.
Since its launch 13 years ago in Algeria, Jumia has successfully adapted its e-commerce model to the specificities of the Algerian market, profoundly transforming the online shopping experience by offering its customers proximity, innovation, and high-quality service.
The platform offers users integrated services, including online shopping, cash on delivery, and access to a wide range of sellers. It also features an enhanced sales interface and various payment options (cash on delivery, CIB/EDAHABIA, and Sahla), ensuring a seamless shopping experience covering more than 55 provinces.
Effective Contribution to the National Economy
Jumia plays a pivotal role in supporting the Algerian economy through its integrated ecosystem. It actively contributes to the growth of the private sector by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and national “Made in Algeria” brands, which represent 90% of sellers on the platform.
The marketplace ecosystem includes not only hundreds of sellers but also several leading logistics partners, further enhancing the country’s digital economy. The positive impact of this initiative on the labor market is evident through the creation of more than 100 direct job opportunities and thousands of indirect jobs, strengthening the local economic fabric.
During the seminar, experts and specialists discussed various aspects of formal and informal e-commerce. Within the context of formal e-commerce, represented by Jumia, the focus was on key themes such as the tax framework, data protection, consumer protection, fair competition, and price transparency.
