National Self-Employment Fair: A Platform to Showcase Youth Skills and Stimulate Algeria’s New Economy

A National Platform for Networking Talents and Advancing the Knowledge Economy
The Palace of Culture “Moufdi Zakaria” in Algiers witnessed the launch of the first edition of the National Self-Employment Fair on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The event is held under the high patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises.
The fair brought together ministers, public and private sector officials, digital platform representatives, and a large number of young self-employed individuals eager to build independent careers in a flexible and dynamic economic environment.
Over 30,000 Young People Integrated into the Formal Economy
In his opening remarks, Minister Noureddine Ouadah presented a comprehensive overview of the National Self-Employment Agency’s achievements, stating that more than 30,000 young men and women were integrated into the formal economy in a short period. This figure, he said, reflects “a new dynamism in mentalities and work mechanisms,” and represents a real shift toward a digital and knowledge-based economy.

A Real Networking and Opportunity Hub
The fair went beyond a traditional exhibition, becoming a vibrant platform for self-employed individuals to network with public and private economic institutions through B2B sessions. These spaces offered genuine partnership opportunities in various fields such as information technology, design, and home services.
The event also featured participation from more than 25 economic institutions and key stakeholders, offering mentoring, training, and potential collaboration with emerging freelancers.
Innovative Digital Services and On-the-Spot Support
One of the standout initiatives was the digital instant service space launched by the National Self-Employment Agency. New registrants could obtain their self-employment card in just a few minutes—a clear signal of the state’s commitment to simplifying procedures and facilitating access to entrepreneurship.
A Message of Solidarity with Palestine
The first day also featured a touching virtual presentation of the “Gaza Talent” initiative from Palestine, sending a powerful message of Algeria’s ongoing solidarity with just causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.
Government Commitment to Youth Empowerment
At the conclusion of the day, Minister Noureddine Ouadah emphasized that the fair is a “strategic milestone in supporting, guiding, and expanding self-employment,” reaffirming the state’s commitment to transforming young people from job seekers into active contributors to the emerging national economy.
Promoting a Culture of Freelance Work
The fair continues on Sunday, May 11, with a rich program including training sessions, sector-specific panels, and direct meetings between freelancers and businesses, aiming to enhance the visibility of emerging talents and strengthen their role in building the new Algeria.
