Algerian Police Arrest Gang Behind Jewelry Store Robbery in Ain Benian

The Crime Suppression Unit of the Fourth Judicial Police District in Bouchaoui, Algiers, successfully apprehended five individuals this week involved in a robbery at a jewelry store in the capital.

The case began following a report received by the unit from the Operations Room at the Algiers Police Command and Control Center regarding a robbery at a jewelry store in the Ain Benian municipality.
The perpetrators used prohibited bladed weapons and attempted to flee on motorcycles. The unit promptly conducted field investigations, which led to the identification and arrest of the five suspects. The operation resulted in the seizure of:
  • Recovered yellow metal jewelry (a necklace and a bracelet).
  • Clothing used in the robbery (masks and gloves).
  • Various types and sizes of prohibited bladed weapons.
  • A sum of 12 million centimes in national currency, proceeds from the sale of the stolen jewelry.
  • Two motorcycles used in the robbery.
After completing the necessary legal procedures, the suspects were brought before the competent prosecutor’s office on charges including forming a criminal organization to prepare a felony, committing aggravated theft with multiple aggravating circumstances, using violence with prohibited bladed weapons, intentional destruction of others’ property, complicity, and concealing stolen goods obtained from a felony.
